Esther Lin Tells All

An interview with the face of Esther Lin a.k.a fashion designer at her Pure Collection's Show, Surabaya Fashion Parade 2015 weeks ago. Get to know more!

When did you know you wanted to be a fashion designer?

I never thought that I would be a fashion designer until one day, when in Shanghai, my roommate saw my portfolio and told me that I got talent. From that moment, I got the courage to start what I do right now.

My body started to shudder when in this conversation, I never thought that what I said back then would be the ‘spirit’ for her to start all of her works.

How would you describe your brand?

We provide beautiful everyday classics accented with a sense of minimal.  Embracing a new perspective of elegance, it’s a mixture of simplicity and elegance.

What is your favorite part about being a fashion designer? 

I can create something from my imagination into something real that everyone would have confidence wearing it. People today seem willing to dress a little bit differently from one another. I definitely see young people today making more effort in the way that they dress than young people did ten years ago. People are getting tired of just wearing a t-shirt and jeans every day and it’s great to see people express themselves more in what they wear especially when they wear one of my collection.

Are you self taught or did you study fashion design?

I studied at Arva School Of Fashion, and I learned how to design and make clothes.

What’s your inspiration behind PURE 2015 collection?

I was inspired by blooming flowers, it evokes optimism and celebrates life, I want to share the positivity that is brought on by the beginning of spring and the promise of a new day. The collection is a celebration of a minimalist femininity with a palette of soft blushes and lilac.
